Habitat Requirements – Follow Up Activity

Topic: After discussing animal habitat requirements, the students will understand what this means by applying it to human existence. This lesson is designed for special education students as part of their education about community resources and how to use the community as they develop life skills.

 

Activity: As a follow up to the Habitat Activity relating to cranes, students will take the concepts and relate them to human existence.

Students will work in cooperative groups completing the worksheet called, "Different environments and habitat needs for humans".

The class will go over the worksheet together and discuss the answers each group came up with.

Each student will then work independently on drawing a picture of his/her habitat (home) on posterboard with explanations on how four habitat requirements are met for his/her family. (Ex.- water from the city water/sewer department, food from the grocery store, etc. )

 

Assessment: Each student will assess himself or herself for the activity using the attached rubric:
