Directions to ALNC Facility

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center Monona Campus is located at 300 Femrite Drive, Monona, on a 47 acre conservation park.

  • Take the South Beltline (Hwy 12-18) to Monona Drive. Exit North and continue past the Monona Drive/Broadway Street intersection.
  • Turn East on Femrite Drive and pull into the driveway after the Monona Meadows sign on the North side of the street. There is a sign for the Aldo Leopold Nature Center and Monona's Woodland Park.
  • Follow the driveway up the hill; the Nature Center is located just south of the main parking lot. All buses must park in the first parking lot. This is also where students will greet the Naturalists.


Black Earth Campus

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center Black Earth Campus is located at 10648 Sutcliffe Rd, Black Earth and is open by appointment only.

  • From the beltline (Hwys 12 & 18), exit Hwy. 14 (west) at University Avenue to Black Earth (through Cross Plains).
  • Turn left (south) at The Shoe Box in Black Earth (this is 78/Cty F – also called Mills Street).
  • Follow 78/Cty F about a half-mile through town, and turn right (west) on F/KP (also called Madison Street).
  • Travel about a mile to Cty F. Turn left (south) on Cty F and follow to Sutcliffe Road (it will be the second road on your right.) Turn onto Sutcliffe Rd and follow it (west) for just under 1.5 miles.
  • The driveway to ALNC-Black Earth is about halfway down the hill, on the right hand (north) side. The fire number is 10648 Sutcliffe Road.
  • Distance from ALNC in Monona is approx. 30 miles. It takes about 20 minutes from the west beltline to the site.
