Henry Vilas Zoo will celebrate Earth Day by giving away trees. Trees help protect polar bears from global warming because they capture carbon from the atmosphere and reduce the impacts of global warming. The tree planting event will be sponsored by Polar Bears International, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Pepsi and MGE.

UW Geology Museum
Take a Self-Guided Tour 8:30am-4pm
Explore the Geology Museum and take a peek into Wisconsin's deep history!
On your visit you can touch rocks from a time when there were volcanoes
in Wisconsin; see corals, jellyfish and other sea creatures that used to
live and swim where we now walk; and stand under the tusks of a mastodon
while imagining yourself in the Ice Age. Also on display at the Geology
Museum are rocks and minerals that glow, a model of a Wisconsin cave,
dinosaurs and meteorites.

Garden Exploring 9am-4pm Visit Olbrich Botanical Gardens and view the outdoor gardens just staring to sprout. If sprouts aren't your thing, admission to the Boltz Conservatory is free from 10am-12pm.

Earth Day Celebration 3:30-5pm Join the Aldo Leopold Nature Center for an exTREEm celebration in honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day! Use the Family Trailside Backpack Program to explore the land at your own pace, try your luck at our environmental challenge maze through the ALNC grounds, and pick up a FREE “Blue Ribbon Kit” to learn about and monitor for “alien” invaders that can harm urban trees.

demonstrations, and speakers emphasizing the beauty and
importance of nature. This is their Earth Day celebration
and your opportunity to get outside and explore the Nature
Center, trails, and God's handiwork first-hand. Learn what you can do to
protect our most precious resource - the Earth! The festival is free of
charge. Bethel Horizons is located six miles north of
Dodgeville following Highway 23, and a mile east on County
Road ZZ.
